Our staff participate in continuing education, publish papers, and participate in various seminars and conferences, some of which are designed to educate patients and potential patients about treatment alternatives.
Our staff attend the annual American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) meeting in order to attend the most up to date postgraduate courses and training related to our specialty.
Our Center is part of the National Institutes of Health Reproductive Medicine Network and Clinical Contraceptive Network. As part of these networks we participate in clinical trials. We are also part of the Oncofertility Consortium which helps preserve fertility in young children undergoing cancer treatment. For more information on current clinical trials available, please call our Clinical Coordinator, Cyndi Long, at 303-724-2064.

SUPPORT GROUPS
The University of Colorado Reproductive Medicine Program offers a free, ongoing support group for women and/or couples undergoing treatment. We recognize that the experience of infertility and its treatments can be extremely stressful for individuals and their relationships. We have designed programs, led by one of our staff psychologists, Dr. Joan Manheimer, to help patients manage this stress effectively. The programs include training in relaxation techniques, stress management, effective communication strategies for couples, and information about resources--books, articles, and programs, that have proven of help to others struggling with similar issues. Most importantly, the groups form a support ntework for individuals considering or going through treatment to share stories with others who "get" what they're going through. For more information about the particular group in progress at this time, please contact Dr. Manheimer at 303-331-1818. |
